Independent Judgement - and the senior support to make it hold

Architectural perspective image reflecting McMillan Maclean advisory work across strategy, operating models and infrastructure delivery and the challenges of aligning capital, delivery and operations

McMillan Maclean helps boards, chief executives, investors and executive teams make better decisions where strategy, capital, technical complexity, operating model and delivery risk meet - and support them to carry those decisions into execution.

We are typically involved where a business is past concept but not yet institutionally robust; when the market opportunity is clear, but the governance, operating model, delivery discipline or organisational capability needs to catch up with the ambition. Our work has two connected parts: independent advisory judgement, and senior implementation support when the client needs additional capacity to make the decisions hold.

When clients involve us

  • A growth platform is moving from proposition to execution.

  • A board or investor needs confidence before committing capital.

  • Delivery risk is increasing faster than the operating model can absorb it.

  • Governance, delegation or decision rights need to mature.

  • Commercial ambition and delivery capability are not yet aligned.

  • Grid, site, technical or partner interfaces are constraining progress.

  • Senior leadership needs independent challenge before a major decision.

What we are not

We are not a strategy house that leaves at the recommendation, a corporate-finance advisor with a product to place, or an interim network filling a seat. We provide independent operator judgement and, where required, senior implementation support to help decisions hold through execution.
